LOCAL SEO CONSULTANT

Local SEO consultant for businesses that live and die by local customers.

If your customers are nearby, being invisible on Google is costing you real money every week. I help local businesses get into the map pack, win the searches that matter, and turn “near me” into booked jobs.

What is local SEO?

Local SEO is the process of optimising your online presence so your business shows up when nearby customers search for what you offer. When someone types “plumber near me” or “best coffee shop in town,” Google decides in a fraction of a second which handful of businesses to show in the map pack and local results. Local SEO is the work that gets you into that handful.

It’s a different game from ordinary SEO. National rankings are about competing with the whole web; local rankings are about proving to Google that you’re a real, trusted, relevant business in a specific place. That means three things have to line up: relevance, distance, and prominence. My job is to strengthen all three.

Who needs local SEO?

Local SEO isn’t for everyone, and I’ll always tell you if it’s not right for you. But if any of these sound like your business, it’s one of the highest-return marketing investments you can make:

If your customers could reasonably ask who does this near me, you need a local SEO expert in your corner. If you sell purely online with no location tie, you’re better served by my eCommerce SEO or SEO strategy work instead.

How local SEO gets you ranked

There’s no single switch. Local rankings come from a handful of signals working together, and my local SEO services cover each one in a deliberate order: foundations first, then momentum.

1. Google Business Profile: creation and activation

Your Google Business Profile is the single biggest lever in local search: it powers your listing in the map pack and on Google Maps. If you don’t have one yet, I handle the full creation and activation: setting up the profile, choosing the right primary and secondary categories, verifying ownership, and completing every field Google uses to rank and display you.

If you already have a profile, I audit and rebuild it: accurate name, address and phone number, precise service areas, correct hours, high-quality photos, products and services, and a keyword-aware description. A fully optimised, active profile often moves faster than anything else we do.

2. Local citations and NAP consistency

A citation is any place online that lists your business name, address, and phone number. Directories like Yelp, Bing Places, Apple Maps, industry sites, and local chambers all count. Google reads these as votes of confidence, but only if they’re consistent. One old address or mismatched phone number quietly confuses search engines and drags your rankings down.

I audit your existing citations, fix the inconsistencies, remove duplicates, and build fresh listings on the directories that actually matter for your industry and area. It’s unglamorous work, but it’s often the difference between ranking fourth and ranking first.

3. Reviews that build trust and rankings

Reviews do double duty: they’re a genuine ranking factor and the thing that convinces a real human to choose you. A steady flow of recent, positive reviews tells Google you’re prominent and trusted, and tells customers they’re safe to call.

I set up a simple, repeatable system to earn reviews from happy customers, help you respond professionally to every review, and use the language customers naturally use to sharpen your content. Over time this compounds into a moat competitors find hard to copy.

4. On-page and local content

Your website still matters. I optimise your service and location pages so each one clearly targets the searches your customers actually make. For multi-location or multi-service businesses, that means dedicated pages for each offering and area, so you rank for far more than just your homepage.

5. Local links and reputation

Prominence is reinforced by local backlinks: mentions and links from other trusted sites in your area, such as local news, community organisations, suppliers, and sponsorships. I focus on earning these the right way, never spammy directories that can hurt you later.

My promise: foundations before flash. I won’t chase links while your Google Business Profile is half-built or your citations contradict each other. We fix what’s leaking first, so every later effort compounds.

How local SEO benefits your business

Done well, local SEO isn’t a cost, it’s one of the few channels where the leads keep coming long after the work is done. Here’s what it delivers:

How I work as your local SEO consultant

When we start, I run a full local audit of your profile, citations, reviews, competitors, and site, and come back with a prioritised plan and honest timelines. Then I do the work and report on it clearly, every month, in language you can actually follow.

No lock-in tricks, no vanity dashboards, no promises I can’t keep. Just a focused local SEO expert steadily making your business the one nearby customers find and trust first.
